The 4th AnnuAl Asheville Van Life Rally

The 4th Annual Asheville Van Life Rally, celebrating the Southeast's van life community and lifestyle, is on for 2018, and this one will be bigger and better than ever!

Join us for a 2-night campout at June Bug Retro Resort, a 15 minute drive—but a world away—from Downtown Asheville. We will have spaces for all kinds of vehicles to circle up for kicking tires, telling stories, and connecting along with a bonfire, beer, food trucks, live music, a "kids of van life" area, vendor village, and lots of room to roam.

The 2018 Asheville Van Life Rally is a fundraiser for the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity.

What does the vehicle camping pass include?

It includes a space for your vehicle, and 2 passes for adults or children.  You must indicate on your registration what your set-up dimensions are, and you must submit an image of your set-up so we can properly plan. The camping experience includes access to multiple campfire areas, live music, craft beer, food trucks, a kids area, vendor village, and festivities celebrating the van life community.


What’s the difference between a spectator pass and a camping pass?

Spectator passes are for those who want to join the rally on Saturday only during the hours of 2pm-10pm, including a full live music lineup, craft beer, food trucks, a kids area, vendor village, and festivities. Campings passes are for vehicle owners who plan on spending the night onsite. Spectators will have access to the rally but will not be allowed to camp.


What’s the difference between Friday night camping and Saturday night camping?  

Friday night camping is for vehicle owners only. This is intended to be an opportunity for vehicle owners to hang out together in an intimate environment, getting to know one another and to see each other’s rigs. Saturday, the event opens up to the more vehicles, vendors, spectators, and festivities.  We encourage vehicle owners to join us for both nights of camping!


What if we have more than two people for our vehicle?

You’ll need to secure an additional “add on camping” pass for each person that exceeds the 2 person-per-vehicle policy on the Eventbrite ticketing page.  


Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed at this event with a minimal charge of $5. The property owners normally do not allow dogs and we do discourage pets on the grounds of the event, however we have been granted an exception for those who travel with their pets in their vans. You may pay this charge during the checkout process during registration.  Proof of payment is necessary during check-in at the event. All dogs must be well-behaved and leashed.  


Are kids allowed?

We welcome van lifers of all ages to join us! Children 12 years of age and under get into the event for free. You are responsible for your children at all times.


What if I am camping with my kids?

There will be a special area for kids to play and celebrate the van lifestyle, and special areas of camping for families staying over with children. Just note you would like to stay in a family-friendly camp area during checkout. And, keep in mind, if more than 2 people are staying in your vehicle, you’ll need to secure passes for them.


Can I sell stuff from my van?  

Sure thing!  Vendors will need to contact the event producer to receive the pricing and registration for selling items, or promoting your brand.  All ticketing on the Eventbrite page is for private vehicle owners only. For more information about vending, email


What if I’m not selling anything but I’m promoting my business?

Are you a van build-out specialist hoping to gain business from this event? Do you own a company that is specialized for this audience and want to spread the word?  Are you looking to gain clients for your camper van rentals, for example? In other words, will you be soliciting for business at this event? You will need to get in touch with the event producer for brand activations in the vendor village areas. Can spectators/visitors park on the JuneBug Retro Resort property?

All spectators (a.k.a. Non camping visitors) will be shuttled from nearby remote parking areas.  Shuttling information will be updated as we finalize the details.  Stay tuned!

How can I volunteer for this event?

Wil there be alcohol there?  Can I bring in my own alcohol?

Unfortunately, the state of NC does not allow you to bring your own alcohol to an event of this nature.  Fret not, though—we will have a special beer brewed just for the 4th annual Asheville Van Life Rally thanks to Wedge Brewing.  We will feature other options as well, including non-alcoholic beverages for the entire weekend.


Will there be areas where we can have campfires?

The JuneBug Retro Resort actually has three areas with established campfires, including benches and plenty of firewood.  No need to bring your own camping chair or a blanket if you have one, and join the conversation at the fire.


Will there be hookups or other power sources if we need to plug in?  

Unfortunately, there is no formal campground-style hookups on site.  The property is normally more an event venue than a camping area.  Please plan to bring your own power in the form of solar or battery.  We discourage generators, as they detract from the overall experience for all exhibitors, and spectators.  


Will there be restrooms?

There will be plenty of clean portable toilets and hand washing stations at the event for everyone to use.  VIP passholders will have access to the upscale bathroom trailer.
